Photos

Here's my batch of photos from the race. Never tried this Peecasso Weeb stuff before so hopefully this works. They uploaded in random order so....good luck on figuring out the chronology. Thanks again everyone for a great experience.

You Were All More Marvelous!

Congratulations to everyone! It was a great race and a fun experience...for the supporters, too. Thanks to the Hillsboro Barkers for all they did to make it happen.

Schedule and Packing List

Just a few days to go!  Here's the plan and suggested packing list...

SCHEDULE

THURSDAY

5 to 8 PM - Pasta dinner at the Barkers, decorate vans, final briefing
8:00PM - Van #1 makes final prep and tries to get some sleep!

FRIDAY

2:00AM - Van #1 leaves Hillsboro (pulling out!)
3:45AM - Van #1 arrives at Timberline Lodge
3:55AM - Check in, receive "baton" (race wrist strap)
4:15AM - Start (Baron heads out the chute!)
7:30AM - Van #2 leaves Hillsboro (pulling out)
9:00AM - Van #2 arrives at Sandy Safeway 37601 U.S. 26, Sandy, OR 97055
10:00AM - Predicted 1to2 van exchange at leg #6 (Hilary starts leg #7)
(Van#1 drives back to Hillsboro for showers, lunch and naps)
2:45PM - Van #1 Leaves Hillsboro for 2nd time (pulling out)
3:30PM - Predicted 2to1 van exchange at leg #12, (Baron starts leg #13) 20 SE Madison St. Portland, OR 97214
   (Van#2 does whatever… )
4:30PM - Laur and Paula (volunteers) leave Hillsboro for Exchange #22
5:45PM - Laur and Paula checkin for monitoring positions
9:20PM - Predicted 1to2 van exchange, at end of leg #18 (Hillary starts #19)  58892 Saulser Road St. Helens, OR 97051 (Columbia Co. Fairgrounds)
(Van#1 drives to Mist (or Jewel HS) and sleeps)
10:00PM - Laur and Paula check out, head back to Hillsboro (will probably miss us by about an hour or two, unless we're really fast!)

SATURDAY

2:50AM - Predicted 2to1 van exchange at leg #24 (Baron starts his final leg, #25)
(Van#2 suggested to go to Jewel HS and sleep/shower/eat --route to Exchange #30 is always congested so plan accordingly)
6:00AM - Christain (volunteer) leaves Hillsboro for exchange #30
7:30AM - Christian checks in (we should see Christian at the van exchange!)
8:10AM - Predicted 1to2 van exchange at leg #30 (Hilary starts her final leg, #31)
(Van#1 drives to Seaside, hee haw!)
12:15PM - Christain checks out (thanks!)
12:30PM - Predicted finish time, all meet near finish line and "run" final few yards with Tiffany.  Get medals, official expensive team photo, our own cool free photos, check out the scene, etc.  No plans beyond that… usually Seaside is crowded and it's nice to go to Cannon Beach and hang out, or head home, or whatever...
(Showers available at middle school in Seaside)
Bring cash, the showers at the schools cost money.

The exchange and finish times are estimates and will probably drift one direction or another.
Who has an iPhone?  There's a sweet HoodToCoast app --if each van has one, we can sync  and record race times that way --it's really convenient.  I'll check to see if it works for iPod touches (need a way to sync them).  I have one and I know Hilary has one, so we'd be set that way.

PACKING LIST

  Running Equipment

  Non-Running Equipment
- Two changes of dry clothing (one for post-race)
- Flip-flops or sandals
- Socks
- Warm socks (for sleeping or hanging around at night)
- A light jacket, sweats, hat and mittens (for hanging around the mountain and sleeping at night)
- Sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad
- Earplugs

- Tooth brush and tooth paste, other toiletries
- Small towel
- Bug repellent (a bee flew up my nose one year and stung me)

Captain:
Signed safety agreement

Van:
Clipboard with "scoring sheet" --it's our responsibility to record our leg times
2 reflective vests (Ellen and Jessie are bringing them)
2 pair of flashers (littler flashing lights you clip on your person; if anyone has some, let me know; I forgot about these, we already have some, but I'll get some more --a runner has to wear 2 (1 on front and 1 on back), so it's good to have 4 per van to make exchanges easy)
At least 2 headlamps --suggest each runner have their own, less sweat sharing.
Plenty of water (there's a coupon for buying water at Safeway I'll give Van#2)
First Aid Kit
Cell phone
2way radios
Maps of the course (I'll print out copies for all)
